Hypnotherapy is a highly powerful science that has several advantages. Hypnotherapy training can bring a revolutionary change in a person by enabling him to get in touch with the subconscious. Hypnosis and its subset, hypnotherapy, have always been mired in myths. People either believe them to be bordering on occult, or don\’t regard them to be serious scientific endeavours. Following are some of the well known myths about hypnosis and the reality behind them.
Hypnosis has nothing to do with magic spells of any kind. It borders more on the science of the human mind and is very easy to practice for anyone who is prepared to learn it. The genuineness of hypnosis is suspected even by individuals who have watched it working on subjects. They say that hypnotised subjects allow practitioners to be successful in their art by not exhibiting enough mental strength to withstand the effect of their words. But that is not true at all. Hypnosis can be exercised on anyone regardless of his or her levels of will power.
Another belief is that hypnosis is an alternate state of consciousness, which again is a serious misconception. A hypnotized individual is fully awake to what is going on in his surroundings. Hypnosis actually brings forth a state of absolute calm characterized by a rise in levels of attentiveness, and this intensified sensitivity helps the subject to receive new inputs without difficulty.
Another myth, which has been circulated by some researchers, claims that hypnosis can work on merely 5% of the human population. Researchers have come up with this low percentage because they have used the identical hypnosis procedure on all subjects without considering their individual natures. One hypnosis technique for all is not a workable solution as different individuals fall under different personality types, and hence are responsive to different techniques.
Meditation and hypnosis are often confused with each other. However, interaction between the subject and the practitioner is indispensable in hypnosis, while meditation is like an engagement with the self without any external interaction involved. Trance too has no connection with hypnosis at all. Just like meditation, trance is a mental state, and it is not associated with communication in any manner, while the very crux of the hypnosis method is communication.
A sizeable number of people believe that it is not possible to bring about alterations in one\’s appearance and conduct through hypnosis training or hypnotherapy. Hypnosis certainly cannot transform the body in abnormal ways. However, it can guide the body to a healthy shape through behavioural transformations like eating less, and quitting smoking and other addictive habits by ensuring a good amount of of motivation in a person.
If an individual believes in all the misconceptions that exist regarding hypnotherapy and doesn\’t venture to participate in a hypnotic session, then he will himself block his way to a better and healthier life.

In this article I am going to be speaking about hypnosis and some of the common myths that surround it. There is much debate between scientists and hypnotists as to whether or not hypnosis is actually real. Scientists argue that there isn’t any concrete evidence to suggest that hypnosis exists. While this is true the same theory can be applied to a lot of things in life, not just hypnosis.
One of the main myths that surround hypnosis is that when you wake up from your hypnotised state you won’t remember anything from while you were hypnotised. This isn’t true, in rare cases being hypnotised can cause amnesia but this is very rare. In many cases it is in the hands of the hypnotist how much you remember when they bring you back from your hypnotised state.
There is another so called benefit which is that if you have witnessed a crime say, and you cannot remember details from it, being hypnotised can then enhance your memory so you can then remember the details. However, as previously mentioned, hypnosis has been known to make you lose your memory, not retrieve it.
Another example is the rumour that hypnosis can give you some sort of athletic edge. This it totally false, no matter what the media may tell you. It can’t be used to improve people’s physical strength, I twill only make you believe that what you can already do is better.
There are a lot of things that hypnosis can be use for however. The most common reason for people turning to hypnosis is for weight loss reasons. If someone is on a diet and avoiding sugary snacks it is natural for them to want the sweet tasting foods that they miss. They therefore turn to hypnosis to help them with their cravings.
The most common form of hypnosis is an art called conversational hypnosis. The days of a coin on the end of a string swinging back and forth are long gone. Conversational hypnosis works by speaking to people in such a way that they will be under the hypnotists spell. There are many experts that demonstrate their skills on national TV and they’re very good at what they do.
There are many conversational hypnosis courses being sold these days throughout the internet. Some of them are very informative for beginners and with the correct amount of dedication to learning a complete newbie can grow to an intermediate level of hypnosis skills. Unfortunately because there is a market for these kinds of courses it has also paved the way for some bogus products from people that are looking to make some quick money from a hungry market.
There is a great online hypnosis course called The Power Of Conversational Hypnosis. If you want to know more about it come and take a look at my Conversational Hypnosis Review.
