There is literally nothing in all creation which is as powerful and as influential as the power of the mind. Bear in mind that each and every word you utter originates from your mind, just as your actions do as well. While certain actions are a result of your conscious mind, others are manifested on the subconscious level.

A perfect example of this can be witnessed when we sit down to watch TV. In some cases we don’t like what we’re watching and so we decide to change channels and watch something else instead. This is an action of the conscious mind. On other occasions, we reach for the remote and we flick through the different channels for no apparent reason. This of course is an action on the subconscious level, but have you ever stopped to think about what made you do it? Because this was an action on the subconscious level you probably never gave it a second thought.

Just how these actions happen is nothing short of being amazing. Perhaps another program which you dislike was just about to start and your subconscious mind immediately sent out a signal for you to change channels. This is just one example of the influence your subconscious mind has over your actions. If one stops to consider just how much influence your subconscious mind can have over your actions, then it only makes sense that you need to train yourself in such a way so that you can have control over your subconscious mind. By training yourself you can improve the quality of your life significantly.

What many people don’t realize is the fact that the power of the conscious mind is so vast that it’s almost unimaginable, and that providing you can learn how to harvest that power, you can live your life to the fullest. So often we are told that our subconscious mind is full of evils and darkness, and while it may be beneficial to understand the darker side of psychology, focusing entirely on negative aspects should be avoided altogether.

Because of this it is crucial that you focus primarily on the positive aspects of your life, and how you can gain control over your subconscious mind in order to make self improvement possible. Even though this may at first seem as though it is a complex process, you’ll soon discover that rather than being complex, it’s simply a series of simple processes. These simple processes can in turn allow you to harness the power of your subconscious and that in turn will help you to reach your full potential. So, without any further procrastination, let’s take a look at how you can go about achieving this.

In all likelihood, affirmations are probably the easiest way for you to gain control over your subconscious mind. As you may already know, affirmations is a method people use in order to remind themselves about certain aspects of their life so that it is possible for them to reach their goals.

If for example you found yourself in a situation where you were required to complete a task for which you believed you were not ready, you would more than likely experience a feeling of fatigue. This is essentially the way your body responds to a stressful scenario, but unfortunately it can leave you feeling drained and without energy. By using affirmations, it is possible for a person to overcome this condition which in turn would allow them to complete the task as it should ideally be completed.

In other words, you need to constantly remind yourself (affirmation) just how capable you are of doing the task, and how much you will benefit from it. You could even stand in front of the mirror and affirm that nobody is more capable of completing the task than you are. You need to convince yourself that you are in fact so capable, that by that time you’ve finished the task it will be almost unbelievable.

Of course, affirmations can also be used successfully to break certain habits such as smoking, drinking, or even overeating. Studies which have been carried out within a scientific framework have shown that the subconscious mind can be controlled with constant repetition of affirmations. This applies irrespective of whether you choose written or verbal affirmation.

Over and above using affirmations, there are also a number of other things you can do in order to take control of your subconscious mind. For example, you could attend sessions with a professional hypnotherapist. Alternatively, you could choose to use self hypnosis instead, together with various audio recordings designed specifically for this purpose.

While both of the above mentioned methods are known to be highly effective, there is however another process which is still relatively new, and this involves synchronizing the brain waves of the two hemispheres in the brain. This process, known as binaural beats, employs the use of different sound frequencies played into each ear through a set of headphones. The frequencies used are only slightly different from each other but it is sufficient enough to result in an almost instantaneous meditative state of mind. Of course, it is this state of mind which is ideal in terms of allowing the conscious mind to communicate with the subconscious mind.

In fact, this whole process can be taken a lot further, as has been demonstrated by Buddhist monks for centuries. As you may have already have heard, some monks have so much control over their subconscious minds, that they’re able to exhibit what could best be described as being supernatural powers in that they are able to levitate.

Books such as ‘The Secret’ have tried hard to explain this phenomenon scientifically, and as such, it is now known as ‘The Law of Attraction’. Before you become tempted to try and discredit this, you should bear in mind that it is something which has been proved scientifically. Scientific experiments have proven that the law of attraction allows a person to manifest what they want, providing they can communicate with the subconscious mind successfully.

Even though this may sound quite unbelievable, quantum physics is able to show us that the ancient religions have been right all along when they say that the reality we live in the simply a product of our mind. Interestingly enough, quantum physics has also been able to help us understand other amazing powers such as how certain people can be psychic.

The bottom line is; your subconscious mind is far bigger and more powerful than what you can never imagine, and that is why you should never overlook the importance of being able to control it. Over and above being able to change the way you act and behave, you’ll also be able to use your subconscious mind in order to discover a life full of riches.

Of course it’s safe to say that everybody is aware of the fact that they have a subconscious mind. In fact, many people are quick to place the blame on their subconscious mind when they’ve done something which they later end up regretting. Either way, it’s one of the most powerful tools you have at your disposal because it is to your subconscious mind which actually controls the way you live.

Even though many professionals insist on arguing the point, the human race has by all accounts acknowledged the fact that the subconscious mind does indeed exist. Basically, the subconscious mind is like a mind within your mind. It is the part of you which controls and directs your actions and also your thoughts. It’s that little voice in the back of your head that you always hear when you’re faced with a difficult situation. The way in which a person’s subconscious mind communicates with them differs from one person to the next, meaning that no two people have the same type of subconscious mind. Even if you have an identical twin and you were both raised in the same environment, under the same conditions, you will both have a different inner voice.

Contrary to what you may believe, you have also heard your subconscious mind speaking to you in the past. For example, if you’ve ever been on the verge of making a monumental decision and a voice inside your head managed to speak you out of it, then that was your inner mind talking. Obviously we all want our inner mind to talk us out of doing dangerous things but unfortunately it sometimes manages to convince us that we cannot do something even though we actually can. As such, your subconscious mind is basically what you think of yourself deep down, and if left unchecked, it can have disastrous consequences.

When you’re having deep thoughts and your subconscious mind is telling you negative things, then there’s very little chance that you’ll end up enjoying your life the way you should. Fortunately however, there is something you can do in order to change the way you feel about yourself. In fact you can make your subconscious mind say good things rather than bad so that you can live your life in happiness.

For example, many people firmly believe in the power of affirmations in order to change the way they think. These are essentially statements of a positive nature which one can repeat to oneself several times throughout the course of each day. The beauty of this is that there’s no need to spend vast amounts of money, simply because you can do it all by yourself, at home or even at work. Just take a moment to think about what aspect of your life you’d like to change, and then start thinking about yourself.

If you would like to stop smoking for example, then instead of thinking that you cannot kick the habit, you should rather be thinking how good it feels to be a non smoker. You should write this down on a piece of paper so that you can carry it around with you and read it to yourself whenever the need arises. You could of course also place a copy of it on the mirror, next to your bed, and even next to the toilet, so that you see the message as often as possible during any given day. Your goal should be to repeat this message to yourself as many times as possible each day until such time that your subconscious mind realizes that this is what you are wanting it to think.

In this sort of scenario, you would soon begin smoking less and less until you reached that point where you were able to kick the habit altogether. Of course, this is just one example but the same approach can be applied to any aspect of your life.

In case you’re wondering if your subconscious mind really does have an impact on your life, let’s look at the following scenario. You have an important meeting in the morning but unfortunately you forget to set your alarm. You wake up late and immediately begin panicking, and as a result, you soon start believing that the day is not going to go your way. To make matters worse, when you get into your car, you discover the battery is flat and that the car won’t start. After getting someone to help you, you set off on your way but you end up getting caught in the traffic. Even when you do eventually make it to the meeting, everything seems to go wrong. By now you firmly believe that your day cannot get any worse than it’s already is but the bad news is that it continues throughout the rest of the day.

Now, if you’re like so many others, you’ll simply put it all down to coincidence but the only problem is, there is no such thing as coincidence. Instead, everything happens for a reason. In fact, it’s usually your subconscious mind which is the reason.

Many people have already tried to explain this phenomenon in scientific terms, as can be seen in books like ‘The Secret’. If you’re thinking ‘I hate my job, I can’t afford nice things, I’ll never lose weight’, then these negative thoughts will influence your actions. You will unconsciously make choices that will make these thoughts a reality in your life.

No matter how much you disagree with that statement, just try it. Eventually, you will begin to believe it, quite like those negative thoughts that have been bombarding your mind all these years.

Affirmations are an excellent way to begin the re-programming process. Take a moment to think about your current situation. What thought processes led you to make the choices you did? Did you accidentally sign the papers for so much debt? Did you get into your relationship by accident? Did you accept your current job by accident? Each of these choices was a result of your mind being programmed to believe that was what you needed at that time in your life.

Now think about what you want your future to look like. Mind over matter is about teaching your mind to create, look for and accept more positive results than the ones you’ve been accepting in the past.

This is because the sub-conscious mind becomes programmed by telling it what you want to believe over and over again. At first a person in such a negative relationship might think ‘I’m not those things’. The thought doesn’t feel right, but over time they begin to believe it and then they begin taking actions that reinforce that belief.

Now think about the opposite approach. If you tell yourself regularly that you are beautiful and worthy of a great job with plenty of money, you will at first think ‘that’s not true’. But deep down your unconscious mind will be listening and the reprogramming will be happening slowly. Before you know it, you’ll believe in yourself and your actions will lead to more positive outcomes.

It really is possible to live a life of joy and abundance once you have mastered the principles of mind over matter.
